I have visited to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Mysore(District), Karnataka in my bike with my friend Praveen on 13-Jan-2008. round trip was 300km today. Its really good one day trip.

About: Ranganathittu covers an area of less than 1sq km, but the bird population density is very high. The most common birds in the sanctuary are painted storks, spoon bills, white ibises, egrets, herons and partridges. Most of the birds stay on tiny islands within the cuvery river, which you can approach by boat. You can see more crocodiles in this place.

Entry Fees: Rs 25 per/head, Rs 15 Bike.

Best time to visit: June to November (8:30 am to 6:00 pm), But local people telling, you can see birds between Jan to Jul.

Road Map from Bangalore: I have traveled in Bangalore-Mysore high way(SH-17) in bike. If you travel 135 km in mysore road from bangalore, you will reach Srirangapattna. Still you need to travel near 3 km in the same road after take Right(you will find small circle) & travel 1 and half KM, then take one more right and travel 1 km, You will reach Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary.

Nearby Place to See:

1.At Srirangapattna you can see Ranganathan Temple, Tippusultan Body Found Place.
2.at Srirangapattna, if you take left, you can see Tippusultan Summer house, Gumbaz, Sangamam (Cauvery, Lokapavani & Hemavathi).
3.If you travel 10 km from Srirangapattna in the same high way, you will reach Mysore. You can see place like Phillomina Church, Mysore Palace, Chamundeswari Temple, Nandi Temple, Brindhavan Garden, etc

Jog Falls, Karnataka Tour, India.

Jog Falls, created by the Sharavathi River falling from a height of 253 meters (829 ft), is the highest plunge waterfall in India, Located in Shimoga District of Karnataka state, these segmented falls are a major tourist attraction.

Associated with the waterfall is the nearby Linganmakki Dam across river Sharavathi, and the hydro-electric power station that it serves. The power station has been operational since 1949, and is, at 1200 MW capacity.

We(Udhaya, Sandeep, Suman, Rajesh) have started from Bangalore in car on Friday night, We reached Sagar at 7.00 am morning and stayed in hotel(VARADASHREE, BH RAOD, Sagar-577401, Phone (08183) 228899, 228999, 9242226788). This is the only one good hotel we can get this nearby, WE are not booked the hotel, but if you want go with family , then you have to book it and go. If you want take fresh/rest. Jog falls is 30 KM from sagar. Totally jog falls is 430 km from Bangalore.

We reached Jog fall at 11.00 AM & went down near to water. Its very easy to godown, but it took more time to come back. Any way its very safe trucking. After this place we reached Honnemardu Back Water. Its really good place but we wont found any entertainment other then small boating. Chikkander Temple, its one more good place to see. We started back to Bangalore on Saturday night and reached Bangalore on Sunday., 5.00 AM.
